Broken

Cracks and pieces
fragmented and crippled
the world
lies in shambles
broken

Houses
families
lovers
people
broken

From the outside
from a distance
things look right
from a distance
things and people appear
better than they really are

From a distance
the world is a soap bubble
with a tint of rainbow
in the air afloat

but on the inside
it’s hollow and dark
like in a cave
occupied
by memories of
dreams
hearts
egos
broken
long ago

The young ones too
they’re broken
hopes crushed
dreams shot down
with
a heavy calibre gun
like in
one of their
Xbox games

what have you done?
how far you have come
there is no clue
what the next turn
the next scene
will bring

the world is broken
there is no fixing it
but we are hoping
we are praying
that beneath the
shells we crack
we’re bringing
something
amazing back

why would we need
why should we need
to wage a war outside
when it’s saving inside
we need

    Yoshay,

We don’t need wars, so true. Your poem touches upon an important topic in a beautiful way and the conclusion is spot-on. Loved it a lot, keep writing and smiling.
